Have you ever watched a precast estimator build a submittal? The plans already say everything. Top of casting 20.00, outlet invert 11.00, an 18 inch RCP coming in at 90 degrees. And yet somebody sits down and types all of it again into one program to stack the pieces, again into another to draw the sheet, and once more into the ERP to price the job and order the frames and boots. Three keyboards, one manhole.
We shipped twenty-seven releases these past two weeks, and nearly all of them add up to one answer for that afternoon: type it once.
Two elevations in, a structure out
The Precast Calculator now takes a civil structure the way the site plan gives it. Enter the Top of Casting and the Outlet Invert at sea-level datum (or measure to the floor, for a grease trap or a wet well) and the Design Height reconciles while you type. Openings go on a plan protractor the way you would read them off the plans: an angle, an invert, a pipe. The pipe picker pulls size, material, connector, and hole from your own catalog, and opening number one seeds itself as the outlet, because it always is.
Then you tap Auto-Stack, and the software solves the piece stack against the forms your plant actually pours. Base, risers, cone, grade rings, the whole build-height ledger from the frame down to the outside height. If the solver's answer is not the answer you would pour, the Stack Editor lets you replace a course, re-height it, reorder it, or mark it By Others, and the weight, the bill of materials, and the quote price recompute while you work. The structure lands on the quote as one priced line. No side spreadsheet, mind you. The same numbers all the way down.
The sheet an engineer will sign
A submittal lives or dies on the sheet. So the sheet got the most attention.
Send for Stamp generates one page per structure: the title block, the Design and Stack Build Height ledgers, the openings schedule, and a bill of materials where every piece carries a letter. The Plan and Elevation views are real dimensioned drawings of the solved stack, joint lines and cone taper and floor slab included, and the pieces on the drawing carry the same letters as the bill. Anybody on the floor can point at piece B on the paper and piece B on the drawing and know they are the same thing.
The spec block prints beside the heights: ring and frame, grate, channel, coating, steps. Notes print in the colors engineers expect, RFI items in red, special notes in blue, reinforcement steel in plain black. Set your standard steel specs and notes once in Settings and every new structure starts prefilled with them. And when you have built a design you like, save it as a reference: the next structure like it is one pick, openings layout and all, and you fill in that site's inverts.
The engineer gets a link. They review, they seal, and the approval and every revision after it tracks on the structure. No printer, no wet stamp, no lost email thread.
The hardware follows the concrete
Here is the part I have wanted for a long time. A manhole is not just concrete; it is a frame, a grate, and a boot for every pipe through the wall. Those parts sink jobs when they are not on the shelf, and no drawing tool on earth cares.
DhyanaERP cares now. Every casting and every boot carries per-plant inventory, on hand and reserved, with an audited adjust editor in Settings. When a quoted structure becomes a sales order, the line expands into the exact hardware it consumes, multiplied through the quantity. Approve the order and that hardware deducts from the plant's shelf exactly once, with an audit row for each part. Approve it again, move it to production, ship it: no double counting, ever. Short on a boot? Flag it backordered, pick a follow-up window, and a reminder lands on the day you chose.
Form molds got a ledger of their own, quantity owned, condition, cycle counts. Molds are equipment, not consumables, so orders never touch them. The software knows the difference because plants know the difference.
The small stuff rode along
The job's Files tab now live-views your takeoff blueprints and CAD drawing sets next to the BOLs and invoices, so nothing goes stale in a copy. The calculator adds pieces straight onto the quote, and draft quotes inherit the job's customer. The custom shape editor picked up zoom, circles, and editable arc edges for the radius work. And there is a full engineer's manual for the calculator now, print-ready, from datum elevations to the deduction ledger.
Why this matters to us
We keep coming back to the same conviction: the software should carry the clipboard, not hand you another one. An estimator who types a rim elevation once should never type it again, not into a drawing tool, not into a spreadsheet, not into a purchasing screen. Every retype is a chance to be wrong, and in this trade, wrong is measured in feet of buried concrete.
