Alabama's precast concrete drainage work on state projects is governed by the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT). The requirements for drainage structures, reinforced concrete pipe, box culverts, and the concrete itself live in the Standard Specifications for Highway Construction, with details carried on the state's standard drawings. Precast producers read those documents alongside the project plan set to know what to make and how it will be accepted.
ALDOT presents drainage structure requirements as written specification provisions, Section 621 for inlets, junction boxes, and manholes and Sections 524 and 530 for box culverts and pipe, rather than as one tabular catalog. Project plans then reference the matching Standard and Special Drawings for each precast structure type. Quantities and structure call-outs appear on the drainage and cross-section sheets of each contract plan set.

ALDOT Standard and Special Drawings are published by edition year (2026 current). The set includes reinforced concrete box culverts and precast box culvert and end section details; roadway pipe culverts with bedding and fill-height sheets; pipe culvert end treatments including precast slope-paved headwall details; precast round and rectangular junction boxes; and precast concrete manhole and inlet details.
Under Qualified Sources, List I-8 covers Pre-Cast Concrete Pipe and Miscellaneous Pre-Cast Concrete Products, and List I-10 covers Precast and Prestressed Concrete Producers. Only sources qualified by ALDOT may supply precast products to state projects.
Plant certification: ALDOT precast producer qualification under the Materials and Tests procedures (ALDOT-364 inspection and acceptance, ALDOT-367 production and inspection, ALDOT-377 technician certification). State in-house qualification (ALDOT Bureau of Materials and Tests), with producers also expected to hold NPCA or ACPA QCast plant certification per ALDOT guidance.

A ALDOT parser profile is next in line for DhyanaERP.
DhyanaERP Drainage Summary Import reads a plan set, finds the drainage structure sheets, transcribes them under a strict extraction contract, checks the engineering, and turns each row a person confirms into a priced structure. This status describes DhyanaERP's reading capability only. It is not a statement of DOT approval.
See DhyanaERP Precast EditionSection 621, Inlets, Junction Boxes, Manholes, and Miscellaneous Drainage Structures, in the ALDOT Standard Specifications for Highway Construction (2026 Edition).
Section 524 covers Reinforced Concrete Box Culverts and Section 530 covers Roadway Pipe Culverts; Section 619 covers Pipe Culvert End Treatments.
The producer must appear on ALDOT's qualified source lists (List I-8 for precast pipe and miscellaneous precast products, List I-10 for precast and prestressed producers) and meet the Bureau of Materials and Tests precast procedures.
No. ALDOT issues contract-specific changes as General Application Special Provisions rather than a standalone supplemental specifications document.
