Kentucky's precast concrete drainage work on state projects is governed by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC). The requirements for drainage structures, reinforced concrete pipe, box culverts, and the concrete itself live in the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, with details carried on the state's standard drawings. Precast producers read those documents alongside the project plan set to know what to make and how it will be accepted.
Drainage bid items and quantities are tabulated on plan summary sheets. KYTC roadway plans carry a Pipe Drainage Summary covering items such as culvert pipe and entrance pipe, with separate per-county summary sheets when a project crosses county lines. Structure quantities tie to the Section 701, 709, and 710 pay items.
Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, 2026 (effective with the January 2026 letting; published electronically). The sections below cover precast drainage structures, pipe, culverts, and concrete.
| Section | Title |
|---|---|
| 601 | Concrete |
| 701 | Culvert Pipe, Entrance Pipe, Storm Sewer Pipe, and Equivalents |
| 709 | Flume Inlets and Paved Ditches |
| 710 | Inlets, Outlets, Manholes, Junction Boxes, Catch Basins, and Other Small Drainage Structures |
Section numbers are a reference. Confirm them against the current specification and any special provisions for your project.
The 2025 Standard Drawings are current, for lettings beginning December 11, 2025. Roadway drainage details appear in the RD-series: drop box inlets and box inlet-outlets, plus series for manholes, box culvert bedding and fill heights, and related drainage structures.
The Division of Materials maintains the List of Approved Materials. New products, including drainage items, are evaluated through KyPEL. A dedicated Concrete resource page links producer forms and the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Manual.
Plant certification: KYTC Division of Materials concrete producer approval (Precast/Prestressed Concrete program). State in-house (KYTC Division of Materials), administered through the concrete program and List of Approved Materials.

DhyanaERP reads KYTC drainage summaries today.
DhyanaERP Drainage Summary Import reads a plan set, finds the drainage structure sheets, transcribes them under a strict extraction contract, checks the engineering, and turns each row a person confirms into a priced structure. This status describes DhyanaERP's reading capability only. It is not a statement of DOT approval.
See DhyanaERP Precast EditionSection 701 of the KYTC Standard Specifications (2026 edition) covers culvert pipe, entrance pipe, and storm sewer pipe. Reinforced concrete pipe is furnished and installed under that section, with product acceptance through the Division of Materials.
Section 710 covers inlets, outlets, manholes, junction boxes, catch basins, and other small drainage structures. Standard dimensions and steps follow the 2025 Standard Drawings.
The 2026 edition is current, effective with the January 2026 letting. It is published only in electronic form on the KYTC Construction page.
Approval runs through the KYTC Division of Materials and its List of Approved Materials, with new products evaluated via the Kentucky Product Evaluation List (KyPEL). The Division's Concrete page hosts producer forms and the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Manual.
