Louisiana's precast concrete drainage work on state projects is governed by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD). The requirements for drainage structures, reinforced concrete pipe, box culverts, and the concrete itself live in the Louisiana Standard Specifications for Roads and Bridges, with details carried on the state's standard drawings. Precast producers read those documents alongside the project plan set to know what to make and how it will be accepted.
DOTD plan sets include a Summary of Drainage Structures sheet that lists all required drainage structures in tabular form by station in consecutive order. It records each structure with a description and type, with pipe quantities broken out by type, and references the applicable standard plans. The format is documented in the DOTD Hydraulics Manual and the Roadway Design Procedures and Details Manual.
Louisiana Standard Specifications for Roads and Bridges, 2026 (effective January 1, 2026; the 2016 edition still applies to older contracts). The sections below cover precast drainage structures, pipe, culverts, and concrete.
| Section | Title |
|---|---|
| 701 | Culverts and Storm Drains |
| 702 | Manholes, Junction Boxes, Catch Basins, and End Treatments |
| 805 | Structural Concrete |
| 806 | Deformed Reinforcing Steel |
| 1001 | Portland Cement and Cementitious Materials |
| 1016 | Concrete Pipe and Precast Reinforced Concrete Drainage Units |
Section numbers are a reference. Confirm them against the current specification and any special provisions for your project.
Drainage standard plans use letter-prefixed series: catch basins (CB), manholes (MH/MC), box culverts, and headwall and end-treatment details. A Standard Plan Index spreadsheet on the page links the individual plans; some sealed plans require a public records request.
The AML portal lists approved products by producer facility, including precast concrete and drainage product suppliers. Section 1016 requires concrete pipe and precast drainage units to be on the Approved Materials List and produced at Certified Plants.
Plant certification: DOTD Certified Plant program for precast concrete pipe and drainage units. State in-house (DOTD Materials and Testing Section); the specification names Certified Plants and yearly recertification.

DhyanaERP reads DOTD drainage summaries today.
DhyanaERP Drainage Summary Import reads a plan set, finds the drainage structure sheets, transcribes them under a strict extraction contract, checks the engineering, and turns each row a person confirms into a priced structure. This status describes DhyanaERP's reading capability only. It is not a statement of DOT approval.

Section 702 covers manholes, junction boxes, catch basins, and end treatments; Section 701 covers culverts and storm drains including pipe and precast units; Section 1016 covers concrete pipe and precast reinforced concrete drainage units as materials.
Yes. Section 1016 requires concrete pipe and precast drainage units to be on the DOTD Approved Materials List and produced at Certified Plants, with yearly load testing to retain certification.
