Maine's precast concrete drainage work on state projects is governed by the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT). The requirements for drainage structures, reinforced concrete pipe, box culverts, and the concrete itself live in the Standard Specifications, with details carried on the state's standard drawings. Precast producers read those documents alongside the project plan set to know what to make and how it will be accepted.
Project drainage work is quantified on the plan sheets and paid under the Standard Specifications 600-series pay items, chiefly Section 603 for pipe culverts and storm drains and Section 604 for manholes, inlets, and catch basins. Precast box culverts, arches, and three-sided frames are handled as designed structures under Section 534 with contractor Working Drawings reviewed by the Fabrication Engineer. Structure and pipe sizes, types, and locations are tabulated on the contract plans.
Standard Specifications, March 2026 (governs contracts advertised after August 1, 2026; supersedes March 2020). The sections below cover precast drainage structures, pipe, culverts, and concrete.

| 502 | Structural Concrete |
| 534 | Precast Structural Concrete |
| 603 | Pipe Culverts and Storm Drains |
| 604 | Manholes, Inlets, and Catch Basins |

MaineDOT publishes Standard Details (2026 edition for contracts advertised after August 1, 2026), organized into Divisions including 200, 500, 600, and 800. Drainage structure and culvert details sit in the 600 division alongside the Standard Specifications 600 series.
The QPL index groups products under Concrete and Bridge, Highway Safety and Traffic, and Environmental headings. It carries concrete-related lists but no standalone list for precast drainage structures, catch basins, manholes, pipe, or box culverts. Precast structural concrete acceptance runs through Section 534 fabrication review rather than a product list.
Plant certification: Section 534 Precast Structural Concrete fabrication facility requirements. State in-house (MaineDOT Fabrication Engineer) with third-party certification accepted: a facility must have at least 5 years of similar experience and either meet AASHTO M 157 or hold an active PCI or NPCA certification.

DhyanaERP reads MaineDOT drainage summaries today.
DhyanaERP Drainage Summary Import reads a plan set, finds the drainage structure sheets, transcribes them under a strict extraction contract, checks the engineering, and turns each row a person confirms into a priced structure. This status describes DhyanaERP's reading capability only. It is not a statement of DOT approval.
See DhyanaERP Precast EditionSection 534, Precast Structural Concrete, in the March 2026 Standard Specifications. It covers contractor-designed precast arches, box culverts, and three-sided frames plus associated wingwalls, headwalls, toe walls, and cut-off walls, with Working Drawings reviewed by the Fabrication Engineer.
Section 604, Manholes, Inlets, and Catch Basins. Concrete catch basins and manholes are to be built of precast units. Pipe culverts and storm drains, including reinforced concrete pipe, are specified in Section 603.
The March 2026 edition applies to contracts advertised after August 1, 2026. The March 2020 edition is archived on the standards page for earlier contracts.
Under Section 534, a precast fabrication facility must have at least 5 years of experience with similar products and either meet AASHTO M 157 or hold an active PCI or NPCA certification. The MaineDOT Fabrication Engineer and Quality Assurance Inspectors oversee fabrication, and certified plants submit their annual audit.
